Saline Memorial Prepares for 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The Saline Memorial Health Foundation has teamed up with Everett Buick GMC to host the ninth Annual Swing Fore Saline Golf Tournament on Thursday, September 6-Friday, September 7, at Hurricane Golf and Country Club in Bryant.Tournament proceeds will be used to refurbish patient care rooms.

“We look forward to this tournament each year,” said Matt Brumley, SMH Foundation and Ambulance Director. “It’s the Foundation’s largest fundraiser and an event that has been well supported by our community.”

As a non-profit 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, Saline Memorial relies on the funds raised through the Foundation to enhance services for the community. No taxpayer or county dollars are used for hospital operations. It is sustained through the revenue generated through patient services, grants and private donations made through the Saline Memorial Health Foundation.

“The money that’s been collected through this tournament and other Foundation events, has been used to enhance healthcare in our community,” said Brumley. “New services such as IVUS (intravascular ultrasound) in our cardiovascular Cath Lab along with cardiac monitors in the ambulances and the Saline Memorial Hospice House are just a few examples of how members of our community and local businesses have been able to give back to help others.”

The patient room renovation process is a $1.25 million project. Funds from the tournament, which raised $70,000 in 2011, will be used to help continue this ongoing project.

“This is something we believe will greatly enhance the comfort of our patients,” said Brumley.

“Once again Everett is excited to be a part of the Saline Memorial Health Foundation fundraising efforts!” said Susie Everett. “These new room renovations will give patients and their families so much more comfort and convenience. The Foundation is helping Saline Memorial be the hospital of choice and have the best to offer in health care and comfort.”

Golfers have the option to play in one of three flights. The four-person scramble will begin on Thursday with a 1:30pm flight. The Friday flights will start at 8:00am with a second round beginning at 1:30 p.m. Registration fees are $600 for a team or $150 per person.
